Interlace VR LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you play our virtual reality game Astro Penguin (the “Game”) distributed through the Meta Horizon Store / Meta Quest platform.
By downloading, installing, or playing the Game, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
We process Meta Horizon User Data and Device User Data obtained through Meta's platform features and permissions, such as USER_ID and USER_PROFILE. Some of this data may qualify as personal data (information related to an identified or identifiable person, including unique identifiers like user IDs or display names).
Data Controller: Interlace VR LLC is the data controller responsible for determining the purposes and means of processing your personal data.
We collect the following categories of information:
Meta (Meta Platforms, Inc.) provides the underlying operating system, store, and services for the Meta Horizon Store. Meta collects device information, usage data, crash reports, and other analytics on your Quest headset. This data is governed by Meta’s own Privacy Policy: https://www.meta.com/legal/quest/privacy-policy/
• Timestamp and general location derived from IP address (country-level only)
We do not collect through Sentry: your name, email address, Meta account ID, or any other personally identifiable information; precise geolocation; payment information; chat messages, voice data, or any user-generated content.
• User ID: Your unique Oculus/Meta user ID
This data is accessed temporarily during gameplay sessions. It may be stored persistently on our self-hosted Nakama server for account linking, matchmaking, and cross-session identification in multiplayer features. We do not link this data to your real-world identity or use it for any purposes beyond enhancing your gaming experience.
We do not collect through Meta Platform SDK: your real name, email, or other contact information; profile pictures (unless explicitly used in-game with your consent); friend lists or social graph data.
• Aggregated gameplay statistics for analytics and server management
This data is processed minimally to facilitate seamless multiplayer experiences, including real-time voice chat via microphone input. We use the RECORD_AUDIO permission to access your microphone for voice chat. Voice data is strictly transient and ends when the session does—no audio clips are recorded or stored.
Persistent storage on Nakama currently includes only your gamertag (display name) and user ID to support features like consistent player identification across sessions. We plan to add more persistent data in the future (e.g., leaderboards or player progress), which will be disclosed in updates to this policy.
We do not collect or store through Nakama: your real name, email address, or other personally identifiable information beyond what's necessary for multiplayer; precise geolocation; payment information; sensitive personal data; any voice audio recordings or clips.
The Game may offer optional in-app purchases (such as cosmetic items, additional content, unlocks, or other virtual goods) through the Meta Horizon Store’s In-App Purchase system.
All payment processing and billing are handled exclusively by Meta Platforms, Inc. We do not collect, store, or process any payment information (such as credit card numbers, billing addresses, or other financial details).
We may receive limited purchase-related information from Meta, including the purchased product ID, transaction status, and purchase receipt. This information is used solely to validate the purchase, grant access to the purchased content, and maintain your ownership records on our Nakama server for cross-session and cross-device restoration.
If we add additional analytics or telemetry providers in future updates, we will update this Privacy Policy and notify you via an in-game message or update notes on the Meta Horizon Store.
• To comply with legal obligations, if applicable
We do not use the data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.
• Our developers and contractors who need the data to fix issues or maintain features (bound by confidentiality)
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. We have not shared user data with public authorities for national security or similar purposes in the past 12 months. In the event we receive such requests, we would review their legality, minimize disclosure where possible, and document the process in compliance with applicable laws.
Crash reports are retained by Sentry for 90 days by default, after which they are automatically deleted unless we explicitly choose to keep a specific issue longer for debugging purposes.
User profile and ID data from Meta Platform SDK is accessed temporarily but may be stored persistently on our Nakama server as gamertag and user ID for ongoing multiplayer functionality.
Multiplayer session data (including game state and voice chat streams) is retained only during active sessions and deleted afterward. Persistent identifiers (gamertag and user ID) and purchase ownership records are retained as long as your account is associated with the service or until you request deletion.
Purchase-related information received from Meta is retained only as long as necessary to fulfill and restore the purchased content.
You have rights regarding your personal data under applicable laws (e.g., CCPA, GDPR), including the right to access, correct, or delete your data (including purchase records we control).
• In your request, specify the right you wish to exercise (e.g., “deletion of my data”) and provide relevant identifying information (such as your Meta user ID, display name/gamertag, or in-game session details, if known).
We will respond to verifiable requests within the timeframes required by law (e.g., 45 days under CCPA, with possible extensions). We may require additional information to verify your identity. Requests apply to data we control (e.g., Nakama server data, Sentry reports); we’ll coordinate with processors as needed. Data held by Meta is governed by their policy.
You can opt out of Sentry error reporting at the title/settings screen. Even if you opt out, Meta’s own analytics and crash reporting will still apply.
For multiplayer and voice chat features, participation is optional; however, opting out may limit access to those features (e.g., no lobbies or voice). You can manage your Meta account settings to control profile visibility. Microphone access can be revoked in Quest system permissions.
Our Games are not directed to children under 13 (or the applicable age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Sentry is based in the United States. Our Nakama server is hosted on Digital Ocean (US/EU locations possible depending on droplet region). Data may be transferred to and processed in the US or other locations. We rely on Standard Contractual Clauses and compliance with applicable data-protection laws.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the new policy in the Game’s store page and, when possible, via an in-game notice.
